Newport is central to some great water sports.  Surfing has a long history here, with the longboard competition at South Beach State Park (often the same decent beach break right out our door), 2 great beginner beaches at Agate and Otter Rock and services by Ossies, Pura Vida and Ocean Pulse Surf Shops.  Rentals at Ossies include kayaks, and tours including the marine reserve at Otter Rock. SUP fans may get out of the surf for great paddles along with kayakers on nearby rivers (Siletz, Yaquina, Alsea, Beaver Creek), Big Creek reservoir and Ollala lakes.  The State Park also hosts kayak tours staged at the Beaver Creek welcome center.  Last, the Yaquina river and bay are great play areas for kayaking past oyster farms or sailing.  There are multiple docks noted on our resources maps for put in and takeout.  One is a nice short almost complete loop near the town of Siletz that MAY even work for tubing...though we have not tried it.  Jump up or down the coast for more fun.  Look at our Map, and the green markers which show some of the better surf and kayak spots.
