As Oregon has been discovered, the wineries closer to Portland have gone bananas. And while many are superb, nothing is better than tasting the small vintners down South whose passion, product and pricing are unique these days. Hit the wine trail of Highway 99 from Portland all the way down to Philomath, on the way to Newport. Or, try the shorter wine loop through the King's Valley on your way to our place from Keizer/Corvallis. Don't miss the "Wine Vault" converted bank tasting room in Philomath from Pheasant Court, or nearby Lumos, Cardwell Hill, Harris Bridge tasting rooms. Alter your course and you can visit Airlie, Emerson and end up in the major wine industries outside McMinnville too. Also, just outside Philomath, a new business hosts a great brewpub making mead called Nectar just down the road.
